STORIES & CARE
All Invincible Clothes have stories and secret histories woven into them. Some have even been reincarnated. Enjoy the back-story of your limited edition piece, alongside its vital statistics and care suggestions.
I design on a 3 size principle. S / M / L, and work mostly with non-stretch, cottons and denims, so it’s important to get the right size. However, if you are larger, smaller or generally much more interesting than these standard sizes just contact me and I can offer a made-to-measure service for a little extra.
Invincible Clothes deserve to be owned by the very best. Customers are encouraged to take their items out on regular jaunts and wear them often.
Invincible Clothes are for life, not just for Christmas parties.
-
It started on a boiling hot day. In need of an ankle length day dress that was light, cool, easy to wear but elegant, I made one out of some great light-weight pink and red giant gingham cotton. The first version looked awful. Like one of those horrible hospital gowns that open at the back. There was not enough shape or fabric, it was a frumpy length and generally an unflattering disaster. But I wasn’t giving up. Inspired by my love of Regency/Jane Austen style dresses that hang straight at the front but have volume and interest in the back, I decided to insert some panels into the hospital gown. I wanted the panels to be bright. And obvious. And colour blocked. When it was finished the design looked pretty cool and would look good on most people, whatever size they were. The structure comes from the coloured inserts and panels rather than the fit. So it’s loose but gives structure. And OF COURSE this dress had to have pockets. I love pockets almost as much as words. And this dress has both.
-
The pockets and lettering on these dresses are laser cut and backed and bonded with contrast fabric, therefore I recommend dry cleaning or carefully hand-washing your Pocket Dress in cool water. Always iron inside-out at a cool temperature.

This pinafore was created in ‘silent’ frustration at the loud ranting of 2021 cancel culture and polarised opinions in the media. Part walking placard, part 1920’s pinafore. I experimented (a lot) with different types of denim and dye to find a technique that would produce legible text.
-
Like a great pair of jeans this denim pinafore will fade and wear with age. If you want to preserve its crispness I would recommend dry cleaning or not washing it too often. If you do machine wash, it will be fine but will fade a little. Be a little careful around light colours as some indigo dye might transfer.

A quest to engineer the ultimate pair of jeans for me meant multiple prototypes and denim hacks. And it only took me 48 years! These jeans have slightly bow legs, which give a relaxed cool to the fit. If you like your jeans skinny, these aren’t for you, but if you lust after Japanese Cowboy chic, these are it.
-
Wear a lot, wash a little. Dry clean for crispness or wash in the machine on a cool wash with dark colours. These jeans will only get better with age. Careful around light colours as some indigo might transfer.

These jeans can be worn high on the waist or low on your hips. I’m a size 10 and wear a SMALL, as I like them to sit loose. Just pick what you prefer.

CURTAIN COUTURE
-
Inspired by the Von Trapps, large scale prints, and the love of creating unique clothing, this range uses furnishing fabrics, tablecloths and curtaining. All pieces are limited edition and many are one-offs. Five original designs are used to create a variety of different looks depending on the fabric used. Whether you’re in to 80’s Computing chic, or 18th Century French pastoral toile there is something here for you.
-
Many of the fabrics used are high quality curtain cotton or velvet. To keep them in tip-top condition, I would recommend dry-cleaning (especially the velvet). Iron on reverse (apart from the velvet; velvet hates ironing!).
