ABOUT ME

I started SIM3ALLENKEY after years of designing, making and wearing my own clothes. That’s me, looking discriminating, sitting on my lovely Granny’s knee.

I am a Writer, Maker and Creative Director living in North London with my husband, two daughters, two cats and a rather fat rabbit called Crumpet.

I have adored clothes for as long as I can remember but have never formally trained in fashion. I was taught to sew by my Granny on a classic ‘turny-handle’ Singer machine. She was an immaculate maker and far more patient than I will ever be. 

From a very early age I was particularly particular about what I wanted to wear and determined to create it - the results were not always 100% successful. But, gradually I developed my own style, a maverick mode of pattern cutting and a wardrobe full of original, hand-made one-offs. And then people kept stopping me in the street and asking about what I was wearing, and where they could get it,  so I thought I better start creating my ‘Invincible Clothes’ for other people too.

I have always believed that the right clothes can make you feel invincible, that clothes for grown-ups should be as playful and brilliant as clothes for kids, and that when in doubt about which shoes, choose boots.
